What moves the price
Five things that decide the number.
- Rise. The height you need to climb sets the number of steps, and for spirals the number of turns. It matters more than width.
- Finish. Professional paint in your colour is included. Galvanising or powder coating, where a site specifies it, adds cost and a few days.
- Treads. Chequer plate is included. Perforated treads cost a little more; if oak or stone treads are being supplied by others, the steel trays to carry them are priced in.
- Balustrade. A single handrail is simplest. Balustrade on both sides, glass, or a curved continuous rail is where design cost lives.
- Ground and access. Soft ground needs bigger foundations; a garden with no side access means carrying sections through the house, which we plan for at the survey.
