Eighteen years of experience go into every staircase we make, and every one starts with a full site survey using a 3D laser, so the levels, the rise and the access are measured exactly. You get drawings to approve before anything is cut. Survey reports and structural calculations can be provided where you need them. Video surveys are also available for convenience.

Full site survey
We visit and survey the site properly: finished floor levels, ground levels, the drop, the landing position, walls, drains and the route in. We measure with a 3D laser, so the numbers are exact and the staircase fits first time.
Drawings issued for approval
From the survey we draw the staircase: plan, elevation, rise and going, balustrade and handrail detail, fixings and foundations. The drawings are issued to you for approval, and nothing is fabricated until you have signed them off.
Reports and structural calculations
Site survey drawings and reports can be provided for your architect, builder, landlord or planning application. Structural calculations can be provided where building control or an engineer needs them.
Fabrication and fitting
Once approved, the staircase is fabricated in our workshop to the drawing, professionally painted in your colour, and fitted by our own team. The survey means the fit is right, and the day on site is short.

About surveys and drawings.
Is the site survey free?
Yes. The site survey and the drawings for a fixed quote are free and there is no obligation. Survey reports and structural calculations for third parties are quoted separately.
What does the 3D laser measure?
The exact height between the levels, the distances to walls, doors, windows and drains, and where the staircase can land. It takes the guesswork out of sloping gardens and tight lightwells, where a tape measure is not enough.
Can you do a video survey?
Yes. For convenience we can start with a video survey: you walk us round the garden on a video call, we talk through what is possible and give you a guide price. The full 3D laser survey then follows before drawings are issued.
Can I change the drawing?
Yes. The drawings are issued for approval so you can change the shape, the landing, the tread or the handrail before we fabricate. We revise the drawing and the fixed quote and issue it again.
Do you provide structural calculations?
Structural calculations can be provided where they are needed, for example for a balcony, a high staircase or a building control application. Tell us at the survey and we will include them.
